2L8
2L8 is a music collective, evolving around K the clown (Kostas Vozikis) and based in Thessaloniki. With their debut “Armed Angels, Frustrated Youth, the Art of Self-Deceit and Music Industry” (2005, Poeta Negra), the band made an impressive entrance into the local scene, showing a tendency for radical turns between songs, even within a song. Influences from all over the place merged and gave an outcome that was artistic and raw at the same time. “HE & SHE, Angry Enough to Keep Loving in the Dark Ages” (2008, Inner Ear) arrived to emphasize their soft spot for experimentation, producing a work that balances between post rock and a romantic, gloomy atmosphere.
Two soundtracks (Hrakleidai, 2008 & Thanatos tou Tentazil, 2010) that followed, confirmed the theatrical vibe that 2L8 oozed already in their live performances. For these 2 records the band launched its own label, No More Happy Music Productions.
For their 3rd LP, K and his companions, tried a different route, even further away from conventional means to a record release. They asked for help from their friends and fans, through pledgemusic.com. Such a project might have led to scepticism and failure, but in 2L8’s case, talent and integrity are so well intertwined, that expectations were reached (and then some), and “New Battles without honor and humanity” found its way to the record stores.
